Netflix Content Filter – Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Netflix Content Filter (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) handles user data. Netflix Content Filter is designed to filter specific words during Netflix playback by temporarily muting audio and applying visual effects when specified words are detected in subtitles.
Information Collection and Use
Netflix Content Filter does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information from its users. The extension operates entirely within your browser and only accesses the information necessary for its core functionality.
Data Stored Locally
The following information is stored locally on your device using Chrome’s storage API:
- Words you choose to filter
- Word encounter counts
- User preferences (mute duration, blur settings, overlay settings)
- Optional user-uploaded images (stored locally, not transmitted)
This data is stored solely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third parties. The data is only used to provide the filtering functionality you requested.
Permissions
The extension requires the following permissions:
- activeTab: To detect and filter content on Netflix pages
- storage: To save your filtered words and preferences on your device
Data Security
Since no data is collected from your device, there are no concerns about data breaches on our end. Your filtered words and settings remain solely on your device.
Optional Image Upload
If you choose to upload an image to be displayed during filtering events, this image is:
- Resized and stored locally on your device
- Never transmitted to any external servers
- Only displayed within your browser during filtering events
Third-Party Services
The extension provides optional links to support the developer via Patreon and PayPal. If you choose to use these links, you will be directed to those third-party services, which have their own privacy policies and data collection practices that are not covered by this policy.
Children’s Privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All functionality operates locally on the user’s device.
